Worcester High Street Improvement Scheme - (Pump Street to Elgar Statue)

An improvement scheme to Worcester High Street between the junction of Pump Street and the Elgar statue has been programmed to be carried out on behalf of Worcestershire County Council. The works are scheduled to commence on Monday 2nd September 2013, with a duration of approximately eight weeks.

These works involve re-paving and resurfacing the full width of this section of the High Street. To minimise disruption, the vast majority of the works will be carried out between the hours of 6pm and 6am; we will take steps to minimise noise etc. as the works progress.

The works will be carried out in five phases as listed below:-
  1. Excavate kerb trench, lay new kerbing up to Fish Street and block pave on the West side.
  2. Excavate kerb trench, lay new kerbing up to West side central island, remove existing blocks and lay base course material.
  3. Excavate kerb trench, lay new kerbing to East side central island and lay new block paving.
  4. Excavate and lay block paving to East side.
  5. Surfacing works.

The block paving works will be undertaken in approximately 20m sections along the High Street, and each section will be reinstated each night, allowing full daytime access at all times. The High Street will remain open at all times and access to properties will be maintained; barriers will segregate our works from the general public.

Our Public Liaison Officer for this scheme will be Terry Godwin, he will be visiting this site on a daily basis and he will be able to answer any queries that you may have. Alternatively we can be contacted on our Customer Care Line 01905 761176 or by email roadworks.info@ringway.co.uk

We will update this blog on a daily basis (Monday to Friday) once the works have commenced, so please ensure you visit regularly for information on the progression of this scheme. Information on our other road works throughout the County of Worcestershire can be found on our Twitter feed www.twitter.com/roadworks_info

We would appreciate your patience and understanding whilst we carry out these improvement works to the High Street.
